The Secret to a French Woman's Skin
:: This week is French Women Week, where all we’re talking about is skin care and lingerie, the two things French women spend all their money on ::
When I was in high school, I had a friend come stay the summer with me. My friend was beautiful, and she always knew the best makeup tricks and how to wear clothes that were perfectly flattering. One time she told me that she had started using anti-aging products. She figured that if she got started early, it could only help. Over the years, I’ve wondered if her strategy worked.
It’s actually a documented fact that French women spend a lot of their money on skin care. But actually, it’s not just skin care in all it’s various forms. They’re spending it on a very specific kind of product. Anti-aging products, to be exact. Every year, French women spend $2.9 billion on anti-aging products. That’s roughly $120 per woman over the age of fifteen.
It’s not arbitrary that they start including women in these numbers at the age of fifteen, either. That’s one of their secrets, the French women. They start using anti-aging products as teenagers. Just like my friend from high school. And it seems to pay off. A recent study had subjects thinking that French women looked significantly younger than their British peers.
Isn’t that interesting? It seems that French women have a very specific strategy for maintaining beautiful skin and it’s all about keeping it looking young.
What about you? Do you use anti-aging products? If so, when did you start? Have you noticed a difference?
