My friends. I have something amazing for you. Terrifying! But amazing.
It all started when I kept seeing workouts on Pinterest that said things like Better Arms in 7 Days! or Killer Abs in 1 Week! and I would roll my eyes and keep scrolling. But then, one day, I thought, “How do I know I wouldn’t have better arms in seven days? I’ve never, ever tried it.” I’ve just never been consistent enough with any workout to see results.
So I shot off an email to my friend Abby, a Holistic Nutrition Consultant, to ask her what she thought. Abby replied that most people need about a month before they start to see results, but that results are possible. We got to talking and I decided to go out on a limb and ask her if she’d create a simple, easy-to-understand workout that, if I did it, would show me results.
Here’s the amazing part :: She said yes! And she said I could share it on the blog for anyone to use. It’s basically like having a personal trainer for free!
Here’s the terrifying part :: She created the workout and sent it to me. It’s…um…hard. Like, it means exercising for 45-60 minutes, 5-6 days a week.
But then I started thinking. The two things this workout demands are consistency and hard work, two things which are usually required of me if I’m after anything good. Also, it’s just one month. One month. After that I can reap the benefits of a stronger, healthier body.
So…*deep breath*…I’m going to do it. It’s been a long winter and I’m ready for change. Also, I’ve never pushed myself in this way and I’m kind of curious to see what happens.
But I’d really love to have company. It’s always easier if you’re not alone. So I’m issuing the May Summer Shape Up Challenge! (Sounds official, doesn’t it? :) Here’s how it will work :: Tomorrow I’ll post Abby’s 4-Week Summer Shape Up. We’ll follow her daily workouts and then at the end of the week, I’ll post a recap and we can share about our experiences in the comments section. Also, we can post on Instagram and Twitter using the hashtag #maysummershapeup. We will work crazy hard for thirty-one days and then reap the benefits all summer.
What do you think? I’ll be posting the 4-Week Summer Shape Up in the morning. I’d love to have you join me.
