Spring is only 15 days away and the season change has me full of new ideas and sensibilities. Here are the things that inspire me right now ::
White + Wood
See how that media console has been painted white on the outer surface? This is a trick my friend Maria does when revamping vintage furniture for her shop. I love how it instantly modernizes the piece and makes it looks so fresh. This weekend I’m trying it out on a little midcentury side table and I can’t wait to see the finished product. (Also, with the help of primer and just a touch of sanding, it’s the easiest project to do!) via Room For Tuesday
All of the plants
I can’t stop buying plants. The little, cute ones are so cheap and I love finding vintage cups and planters to hold them. Once I figured out how to keep plants alive, it gives me so much satisfaction to see their tenacious little leaves on every surface. via Homestead Seattle
Also called Art Teacher Necklaces, this kind of sculptural jewelry is popping up all over the place. I still don’t have anything like it, but one of these days I’m going to get my hands on some wooden beads and make one of those funky things. via Cup of Jo
Savory Vegetables Dishes
In an effort to invest in my health, I’ve very consciously been eating more vegetables. The key to flavor seems to be variety and I love dishes like this that throw together a ton of different vegetables/flavors in one bowl. I also make this breakfast scramble nearly every morning for breakfast and I love the way it sets me up for the rest of the day. via Fork & Beans
Specifically pale/peachy pink. This isn’t a new favorite, but more of an ongoing obsession. I’ve even started wearing the color, after a 30-year-absolutely-no-pink-clothes streak. (Seriously, I can’t ever remember wearing pink before. My 1-month pictures, maybe?) via Pinterest
Minimalist shoes are so intriguing to me. It’s like they’re simultaneously hippy and edgy. Like a gardener who rides a motorcycle. Or a humanitarian with a chip on her shoulder. The Madewell mules are way out of my price range, but these sandals are cheap and would last at least one season.
A recent text convo with my antique expert friend ::
Me: Do you ever find Persian rugs for cheap? Is it a pipe dream to think I’ll discover one at a thrift store or something?
Maria: Never. And yes. It is a pipe dream.
Le sigh. BUT I WANT ONE SO BAD!!! Ok, whatever. I can’t talk about this anymore. via Pinterest
What about you? What inspires you these days? Any new trends you’d like to try out? Any old favorites that just keep on making you happy?
