God Made You a Woman
Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. And let them have dominion…over all the earth…”
So God created man in his own image,
in the image of God he created him;
male and female he created them.
God created humanity to reflect his image, but he is so much grander and more different than us that his nature could not be fully expressed in just one gender. And so God didn’t only create him, he created them.
Your gender is a valuable and meaningful aspect of who you are. Your womanhood can be embraced as something that God desires and planned for you. He wants you to be you so that we can more fully see what he is like.
And while you are the type of human that is a woman, there are billions of different ways to be a woman. Think about flowers and the great variety that we see expressed there. Not only our womanhood, but our unique expression of womanhood is an important piece in the picture of God’s image. (The same goes for men—manhood and the unique expressions of manhood within each man are meant to be a way to understand the nature of God.)
As women, we were created to delight in and identify with our creator. But if you look at this from another direction you can discover an incredible truth—God delights in and identifies with you as a woman!
