Favorite Netflix Shows
We hardly ever watch movies anymore. The only movies we watch are in the theater. When we’re at home, sitting in front of our TV, we’re watching television shows…but only on Netflix. Here are our favorites ::
Christopher Foyle is a police detective on the southern coast of England as World War II slowly tears his world apart. The show is slow, meticulous, mysterious, moral, and cunning…just like Christopher Foyle. The characters are complex and endearing, the mysteries are actually mysterious, and you’ll never know whether you’ll end up laughing or crying. Once you finish all five seasons (don’t bother with the 6th…an American production house picked it up and totally ruined everything), you will wander around listlessly, desperately wondering why all shows can’t be Foyle’s War.
Parks and Recreation
It took me awhile to get into this quirky and funny show. It doesn’t really hit its stride until the second season, but I think it’s the best comedy on TV right now. Unlike The Office, whose format it borrows, it’s filled with good people in hilarious situations, rather than bad people in awkward situations. (I don’t mean to pick on The Office, I know it’s a great show, I just die from embarrassment every time I watch it. :) Parks and Rec is pure fun.
Studio 60 On the Sunset Strip
This brilliant show by Aaron Sorkin only lasted one season, but like all of Sorkin’s offerings, its crisp, thought-provoking and hilarious dialogue leave you begging for more. Centering around the cast and crew of a Saturday night live comedy show, it’s basically the serious version of 30 Rock. I terrible at reviews, so I’m just going to say that this is one of my all-time favorites. TV doesn’t get much better than this.
I would’ve put Shawn the Sheep up here, but it was just removed from Netflix streaming. (Boo!) Do you watch Netflix? Movies or TV shows? What are your favorite shows? Now that we’re done with Foyle’s War, Logan and I are aching for a good, new show to watch. We need suggestions!
