Do or Don't? :: Moto Style
This fall I started seeing the word “Moto” in front of everything . Moto jacket. Moto boots. Moto leggings. I had no idea what it meant so I (of course) Googled it and then felt silly because moto just means motorcycle and it’s the biggest trend in fashion right now. In case you’re wondering what motorcycle fashion is, you don’t have to think too hard. It’s nothing complicated, just lots of black leather, belts and zippers.
This moto jacket from Madewell looks soft and easy to wear, despite it’s edgy silhouette. This is a good example of how moto is being worn, too. It’s often paired with a feminine dress to tone down the intensity of the black leather. (The top photo is another good example of this feminine + masculine pairing.)
This may be my favorite version of the moto trend :: zippered jeans and leggings. Besides just being cool, these create a lengthening effect, making you look extra leggy. (Photo via M-street-style)
My sister found a pair of ’90s Harley Davidson men’s boots at a thrift store and is wearing them to great effect these days. I love how tomboyish moto boots are, and think they look especially great with black jeans. (Photo of Gisele Bundchen via The Trend Diaries)
What about you? Do you like the moto trend? Is it too harsh? Too punk? Are you sporting anything “moto” these days? Also, have you found any affordable moto pieces?
