Do or Don't? :: Big Eyebrows

After the over-plucked look of the 90s, the fashion trend has been leaning more toward big, feathered brows (think Cara Delevingne or Lily Collins). I remember the first time it really dawned on me that people were serious about big brows—a friend sent an image to a bunch of my girlfriends with a big, full brow (kind of like this) and we all just stared in disbelief. It looked so different than anything we were used to. In fact, as someone with naturally full eyebrows, I can’t tell you how often I’ve been made fun of for my eyebrows. I’ve spent so much time laboring over removing every abberent hair that it seemed scary to go out in public with so many eyebrow hairs!

But after reading this post, I realized that there really is something beautiful and free about embracing the natural look of your face and I decided to take the plunge. I’ve been growing out my eyebrows for several months now and I can see my natural brow-line take shape. It creates a very bold look, but I also think it frames the eyes in a really nice way and accentuates your face. (Kristie Streicher has some great tips for growing out your brows.)

However, how far is too far? I dressed up as Frida Kahlo for Halloween and even in my costume I couldn’t get myself to go full unibrow. And as I’m growing out my brows now, I keep wondering when enough is enough. :)

What about you? What do you think of the full brow look? Would you grow your brows out? Is there ever a point when eyebrows are too big?
