A Recipe for Gorgeous Skin
Two months ago I started the Rodan + Fields Reverse Brightening Regimen. My friend Britianny Kalvacek had reached out to me and offered to let me try something from the Rodan + Fields line of products so that I might review them here on the blog. I was excited to try, both because I had heard that they were high quality products and because, as a new mother, I wanted to deliberately invest some time in my own physical well being.
The first thing Britianny did was have me take an online test to find out what were my skincare trouble spots and to match me with a complementary skin care regimen. The two things I found most troublesome about my skin were an increasing amount of sun and dark spots (associated with pregnancy hormones) and a general lack of luster. My skin just looked dull and haggard. The online test matched me with the Rodan + Fields Reverse line of products.
This line includes a Deep Exfoliating Wash, Skin Lightening Toner, Skin Lightening Treatment, and a Broad Spectrum SPF 50+ Sunscreen. Because this is a very strong line of products, it is recommended to ease into your use, starting every other day and gradually working up to twice a day. The entire ritual takes about ten minutes every morning and evening, and even though there were nights when it took a lot of self control to stop in the bathroom instead of plunging straight into bed, I ended up kind of liking those moments I stole for myself. I spend so much time changing diapers, bathing children, wiping mouths and doing hair that it seemed appropriate for me to make the time to take care of my skin.
I loved the face wash—after a couple weeks of use my skin looked almost polished, so firm and smooth. The toner was the harshest of the four items, leaving my face red and slightly puffy for about thirty seconds afterward, but I think that it was also one of the most effective treatments. The skin lightening treatment and the sunscreen had good textures—nice and moisturizing without leaving your skin too greasy.
At first the products didn’t seem to be anything special and then all of a sudden I could clearly see the dark spots had diminished. Below are before and after pictures of my skin. I tried to take the pictures in a well light area and did absolutely no editing on the photos, to make sure you could see exactly what kind of change took place.
Active Hydration Serum—After using this for a few weeks my skin was visibly more beautiful. I would go to the bathroom in the middle of the night, look in the mirror and my skin would be glowing. Like a bride.
Mineral Peptides—This product is really similar to Bare Minerals except that Bare Minerals always irritated my skin. This goes on easily (comes with its own makeup brush), evens out my skin tone and doesn’t leave traces of makeup on anything. And the product isn’t actually makeup—it’s a powdered sunscreen!
Last Boost—To be honest, I was most skeptical of this product. I’d never used anything like this before and felt good about my lashes. But this product was incredible. It looks like I’m wearing lash extensions, but they’re my real lashes! I’d say they’re about 25%-50% longer and that much fuller as well.
The combination of these three products made me start wearing makeup less and less frequently. When my skin was so healthy and my lashes so long, makeup seemed needless. Most days I still swipe on some mascara and liner, but that’s it. So fun!
Britianny has generously offered a free Active Hydration Bright Eye Complex (a $70 retail value) to anyone who orders this month as a preferred customer and requests the #IAmADarling special. Also, here’s link to the solution tool that I mentioned above, so that you can find out what skin care regimen would be best for your skin!
Thanks so much, Britianny!
