5 Gorgeous Handmade Projects
A few years ago I went through a period of major burnout, and crafting was some of the collateral damage in my life, but lately I’ve been itching to work with my hands again. I just keep remembering how relaxing and therapeutic it can be to sit on the couch with a cup of tea and some knitting in my hands. I thought I’d share some of the projects I’m considering ::
Have you ever tried embroidery? When I was in elementary school, my grandmother gave me a sampler and taught me all the stitches. This is definitely an art form that I’d like to pass down to Valentine. Maybe a simple but beautiful kit like this one would get me back in the game.
I think every single one of us has pinned this picture from House Tweaking. There’s something so striking about the large scale of the chevron pattern. I’m thinking about painting this design on a small white cabinet I bought from Target last year, and exchanging the hardware for a couple of leather pulls.
Aren’t mobiles so magical? Sigh… I think it’d be fun to help Valentine collect some leaves, flowers and twigs from outside and design a mobile like this for her room. I don’t even mind that it would look so very homemade - it totally adds to the charm.
All I want is to get my hands of some spray paint and paint something! These file cabinets look fantastic and would be so useful, but I’d also like to try something like this for the dining room. Any tips for spray painting metal?
How cute is this girly robot? This project may be a little more difficult, but there’s just something about making a gift by hand that immediately ups the value ten-fold. I’m thinking about a project like this for Valentine’s birthday in May - something special just from me to her. :)
What about you? Do you like to DIY? Do you craft or have a hobby that involves working with your hands? What are some projects you have your eyes on?
